The Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) is a nonprofit organization that works to expand learning opportunities for all through Universal Design for Learning. Head to the CAST website for information about current research on UDL. Also check out their free learning tools for resources that support teachers in their lesson planning and development and other resources designed for student use within a UDL framework.

Matt Bergman is a teacher, blogger, and speaker with a background in designing curriculum using the UDL framework. He also works with CAST to develop professional development material about UDL. Visit his blog for tons of great ideas about how you can incorporate technology and UDL in your classroom.
For further study, consider exploring The Iris Center's module on UDL. You can choose to work alone or with a group of colleagues to learn about a challenge facing an urban middle school and how UDL is one possible answer to this challenge. This is a great learning tool to continue your own professional development on UDL.
The U.S. Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) has created a Tool Kit on Universal Design for Learning. In the tool kit, you will find an introduction to UDL and lists of resources for using UDL principles in instruction and assessment. It is definitely worth a look!
